It started off well. Thankfully I had a daytime flight and I've settled right back into the UK time zone. I ate my fried eggs on toast, met Koopa the tortoise, and transferred all my old numbers to my new phone. Enjoying the crisp morning sunshine, I went into the market town of Bury St Edmunds where I spent many a childhood weekend, noted the excessive crowds of old people - with grey hair![1] - (but it was mid-week at midday), and saw the controversial architecture[2] of the new shopping mall due to open this weekend.
Now it's raining. My parents likened the winds to those of 21 years ago. It's safe to assume that's an exaggeration, but it doesn't bode well for beautiful spring days any time in the next week. Welcome to England!
[1] Korean old people insist on dying their hair black, ideally with a tight perm. Admittedly they do look younger, but it definitely inspires cynicism when they come begging for money down the subway. Now where did you get the money to go to the salon?
[2] Spaceship and beach huts I believe were the descriptions used.
