On Wednesday Simon and I got back from a week in the south of Ireland, where his parents have a house a stone's throw from the beach and the aroma of fresh cows. Unfortunately I've been nursing a stubborn cold for the past month (suspected hayfever?) so felt inclined to shy from the surprisingly mild Irish summer weather, but a light breeze flowing through the window equipped with trashy magazines, Strepsils and a mountain of DVDs was certainly conducive to a relaxing holiday.
And we did get out a bit to enjoy the moody skies and fresh air of the countryside.
